Memorial & Commemorative Benches of The Villages

Throughout the community, families, clubs, and community groups have placed benches in memory and in honor of the people who shaped life here - a spouse, a parent, a friend. Others were given as a gift to the community itself. Each one is a small, lasting place to rest a while. Here are 1,112 of them. Find a bench, read its words, and take a moment to remember the life it holds - and to honor the legacy of those who have been with us.

You can search by name to find a particular person, or simply scroll and let the inscriptions find you. Where a bench's location is known, it is marked on a map, and a touch of the location will carry you to the spot where it sits. Some benches were given in more than one name - a couple remembered together, a family, a circle of friends - and those words are kept side by side, as they are on the bench itself.

These records are the community's own, and we have tended them as carefully as we could. A number of benches have no location recorded yet; they remain here all the same, named in the list, so that no one is left out. If you find something that should be set right, or you would like to add a photograph or a few words of memory, we would be grateful to hear from you.

Visit when you have a quiet minute, and read a few of the inscriptions. Most are brief, yet they hold whole lives - love and loss, service and gratitude - in a line or two.
