Put the town squares - and your favorite band - on your phone

You already know the routine: you hear a band you like is playing a square next week, you mean to remember it, and then the week gets away from you. We wanted to fix that without making you check a website every day.

So now you can subscribe to a calendar and have it show up right inside the calendar app already on your phone - the same place your doctor's appointments and your tee times live. Once you subscribe, it stays current on its own.

What you can subscribe to

  • Town Squares - what's happening at the squares, including the nightly live music.
  • Live Music & Bands - follow specific bands, so their next show pops onto your calendar wherever they're playing.
  • Special Events - the bigger one-off happenings worth circling.

Pick the ones you care about. You don't have to take all of them.

How to set it up

Head to the live calendars page and, next to any calendar:

  1. Tap Add to iPhone/Apple or Add to Google - whichever calendar you already use. (There's also a Copy link button if you'd rather paste it in yourself.)
  2. Your calendar app asks if you want to subscribe. Say yes.
  3. That's it. The shows appear alongside everything else you've got planned, and new shows keep flowing in automatically.

To stop getting one, just delete that subscribed calendar in your calendar app - no account, nothing to cancel here.

How often it refreshes is up to your calendar app. Two things worth knowing:

  • Apple Calendar asks how often to check for updates when you subscribe, and it tends to default to a slow setting. If you want it to stay current, pick every hour or every day in that dropdown. (You can change it later under the calendar's settings.)
  • Google Calendar refreshes subscribed calendars on its own schedule. Don't worry if nothing shows up right away - it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours for the shows to first appear, and the same goes for updates after that. That's normal, not a sign anything's broken.

Either way, a subscribed calendar can run a little behind, so for anything time-sensitive, confirm with the venue before you go.

One important thing: double-check before you go

This calendar is auto-collected and best-effort. We pull it together for you, but we're not the venue - so please confirm times and cancellations with the venue before you head out.

And here's the part that really matters: there can be a lag. When a show gets moved or canceled, it may take a while before that change shows up on this feed. So a show sitting on your calendar is not a guarantee it's still on. When in doubt, give the venue a quick check first. We'd hate for you to drive out for something that got called off an hour ago.

What it's for

Think of it as a standing invitation that keeps itself updated. Subscribe once, and the squares and your favorite bands are just there on your phone - no hunting, no remembering, no checking back. You spend less time looking things up and more time actually going.

See you out there.
